Oxfam International is a confederation with 13 affiliates working
together with 3000 organizations of civil society in over 100 countries in order
to find lasting solutions for poverty and injustice.
Their joint Campaign Office wants to inform
civil society about the themes of global poverty and injustice and stimulate
the Italian institutions – specifically in light of the next Italian G8 in 2009
– to adapt politics and take actions that seek to guarantee access to health
care, education and drinkable water to everybody; they seek justice for
populations that have been struck by the global food crisis and the effects of
climate change.

We work to fight poverty, by which we mean a
lack of financial resources, but more importantly the powerlessness that
impedes many men and women from exercising their fundamental human rights.
Poverty almost always persists because of human
actions or emissions, and it is precisely for this reason that human action and
political willingness can eliminate it.
